Messrs Wyndham

Gentlemen

Herewith I send you SA Register of 11th inst containing awards fr the Judges at the wine show, also one of Decr. 9th contg. a paper & read before the Vignerons Club & in which I made use of information you kindly gave me

My principal object in writing is to let you know that the almost unanimous opinion of both the Judges and also of Exhibitors who tasted the wines was that your wine of 68 & 9, entered in Class 1, was the best in the show, the best proof being that the six bottles were empty before any others, the judges generally helping themselves to a glass of it to wind up with after each sitting.

I was very much pleased to find that all your wines were of a similar character to the ones abovementioned and were it not for the high duties charged there would be a limited demand for them here.

We have made considerable advances here in the production of light wines but I doubt if we shall ever come up to you in them in the full bodied – one we shall beat you.

 With best respects
I remain
Yours faithfully
Ths Hardy
